Last week, I took a road trip around Kumamoto, a cool city in Japan, to check out all the awesome One Piece statues scattered around.

In case you’re not familiar, One Piece is one of the coolest cartoons out there, loved by people all over the world.

Here’s a cool story: A while back, there was a big earthquake in Kumamoto, and the guy who created One Piece, Eichiro Oda, secretly donated money to help rebuild the city.

Instead of putting up a big sign saying “Thanks, Oda!” the governor decided to honor him by putting up a bronze statue of the main character, Luffy, in front of the Kumamoto Prefectural Office.

People in the city weren’t too happy about it at first, thinking it was a waste of money. But when they found out it was Oda who helped out, they forgave the mayor.

And that’s how the “Kumamoto Revival Project” started, with statues of all of Luffy’s crew popping up around the city.

These statues bring in One Piece fans from all over the world (including yours truly) to visit, bringing money to local businesses and helping to bring Kumamoto back to life.

I can’t confirm if this story is 100% true (I heard it from my dad, after all), but it’s a cool tale nonetheless.

Anyway, I spent three days checking out all 10 statues. Let me share some pics with you.

Each statue has its own cool story.

Like Robin, the brainy bookworm, who’s located at the university that got hit by the earthquake.

Chopper, the cute little reindeer, is hanging out at the zoo in the middle of Kumamoto.

My favorite, Franky, is “Suuuuper” at the train station.

And get this: The station even has a train decked out like the “Thousand Sunny,” the ship Franky built for the crew!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to ride the Sunny train this time around.

I was blown away by how each statue has a special connection to its spot.

If you’re a One Piece fan, you’ve gotta check it out. Driving around Kumamoto in the fall would be epic!

So, now that I’ve finished my tour of Luffy’s crew, I’m ready to assemble my own team XD

I just got the dev team to beef up the servers for PODtomatic V2.

Now we can handle up to 20 more people.

If you’re an active member of PODtomatic and want to give V2 a try, just reply to this email with “Join PODtomatic Crew”.

I’ll set you up with a tester account, no problem.

PODtomatic V2 is almost ready to roll.

The upload system is good to go, and we’ve hooked up Gearbubble and Laser Chili too.

We even added a Trademark Prevention feature to keep us safe from any copyright trouble.

So, if you’re keen to give it a try, hit reply and let me know (but hurry, only the first 20 people get in).

Join my crew,

—Bank K.

PS. I just redesigned the PODtomatic logo after watching One Piece. This is the flag of our crew, lol
