Print on Demand Tools & Automation

I run print-on-demand as close to hands-off as I can. That only works because of the tools and systems underneath it — the bulk uploaders, the AI that writes my listings, and the automation that ties it together.

Here's what I actually use and how, including the ones I built myself. Reviews are honest — where a tool falls short, I say so.

Frequently asked questions

What tools do you need for print on demand?

Fewer than you would think. Something to create and upload products at volume, a supplier to print and ship, and a marketplace account. Everything else — design software, VAs, keyword tools — has been absorbed into automation over the last few years.

What is the best print on demand automation tool?

I build and use PODtomatic, so take that as declared bias. It finds niches, creates designs and mockups, writes listings with AI, and uploads to Amazon, Walmart or Shopify, then routes orders to CustomCat or Laser Chili for fulfilment.

Do you still need a graphic designer?

For simple text designs, no — software makes those now. For genuinely artistic work I use LzyPOD to generate the artwork. I have not hired a human designer in years, though there are still good reasons to want one for brand work.
