I need to vent for a moment. Amazon keeps rolling out updates, and let’s just say they aren’t always making our lives easier.
But fear not! I’m here to share the latest method for applying for the GTIN Exemption in 2023.
Let’s dive in!
If you navigate to the familiar page where we used to apply for the GTIN Exemption (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gtinx/browser), you’ll notice it looks a bit different now.
Take a look at this screenshot:

We now have to go to a different page to create a new product. Head over to Catalog -> Add Products.
Here’s a screenshot to guide you:

Then, click on “I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon.”

Next, enter a keyword like “Bracelet” or “Mug,” depending on which category you’re requesting the GTIN Exemption for.
In this example, let’s say I want to upload a Laser Chili Bracelet. So, I’ll type “Bracelet” in the search box and click “Select” under Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry > Men > Jewelry > Bracelets > Link.

Now, we’ll land on the Add a Product page. Follow these steps:
- In the Product Name field, enter “Test”
- In the Brand Name field, enter “Generic”
- Check the box that says “I don’t have a Product ID.”
- Click on “Apply Now”

Make sure you follow these steps precisely, or else the “Apply Now” link might not appear.
If everything goes smoothly, you’ll see this page:

Then, do the same for four more categories.
- Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry > Men > Accessories > Keyrings & Keychains

- Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry > Men > Watches > Pocket Watches

- Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry > Men > Accessories > Wallets, Card Cases & Money Organizers > Card & ID Cases > Card Cases

- Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry > Men > Jewelry > Necklaces

- Home & Kitchen > Home Décor Products > Home Décor Accents > Hanging Ornaments

And there you have it!
You’ve successfully applied for the GTIN Exemption.
For Laser Chili products, they will mostly be uploaded under these categories. If you encounter any issues while uploading other products, feel free to reach out to me for assistance.
I hope this streamlined process helps you navigate the GTIN Exemption application on Amazon in 2023.
Remember, if you have any questions or need further guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Happy selling!
