If you want to succeed in the POD business,
- you need to be consistent about adding products to your store, and- you need to expand into several marketplaces.
I started my POD journey on Amazon. I got into Etsy after a while. It didn’t take long for me to realize that selling print-on-demand products (POD) on Etsy is one of the best ways to build a passive income stream.
Expanding my business to Etsy was the BEST DECISION EVER!
I saw other people crushing sales on Etsy, and it seemed they were doing just as well on Etsy as they were on Amazon. I wanted to get a piece of the Etsy pie!
Since I already have almost 100,000 products listed on Amazon, I can put them on Etsy fairly easily.
No need to create new designs. Just list the ones I’ve sold on Amazon on Etsy. Etsy has over 200,000,000 total visits a month. That’s a lot of visitors.
Amazon has over two billion visits a month, but Etsy has far less competition than Amazon.
Most people on Etsy are looking for a gift or handmade products, so print-on-demand products are a perfect fit. Again, Etsy has a better ranking for this keyword than Amazon does.
So, if you have many products on Etsy and do good keyword research, your products can sell better than they will on Amazon, given Etsy’s superior search traffic.
Scaling your business requires the will to expand and do more! As you continue to develop products with your team, keep your eyes peeled for ‘winning products’ and ‘winning niches’.
Winning products are items that consistently sell well. Winning niches are product areas where buyers tend to buy more from. You might find **‘Funny Engineer Mug’ or ‘Funny Father’s Day Coffee Mug’ **to be a winning niche.
Once you identify these niches, you should focus on creating more products for that niche and marketing them aggressively. As you continue to feed the market with your products, you should also take active steps to expand your market reach using two major tools: Amazon FBA and Paid Traffic.
Over time, I discovered that most of my Amazon sales came from FBA products. I send many boxes of coffee mugs to the Amazon Warehouse, especially in Q4. I think I sent around 2,000 coffee mugs there this year. My Amazon sales that year increased over 100% over the previous year, mainly because of FBA.
