Create Designs that Sons or Daughters will Buy
So you’ve already learned about the product and keyword research, and you now understand how to find interesting quotes to create the products. But now it’s time to create the actual designs.
In this unit, I’m going to show you what kind of designs can sell well during Mother’s and Father’s Days and also how you can create them fast.
Let’s see what kind designs sons and daughters will buy.
After you read about the product and keyword research, you might notice that most of the products in the search results are just text-based designs.
Basically, these products will only contain the message that a son or daughter wants to tell to their parent.

And these are some Mother’s Day coffee mugs from Amazon.
These are the examples of the products that have been sold really well during Mother’s Day.
You can see that most of the products have just the quote with a minimal text style. The message on the product is easy to read.
This is the style that people buy the most because they can send the message to their mom through this mug.
You don’t have to spend lots of money creating a world-class design.
Just the simple text-based design can be sold.
Anyway, there are some designs that you can add an image to as well. These designs can be divided into two categories.
The first one is the plain text-based design.
This kind of design contains only text with beautiful fonts. One design can contain 1-2 font styles and one or two colors. I don’t recommend having more than that because it will not look good.
Make it minimal. Just focus on the important words in the quote.
You might add some simple symbols, such as a heart, to the design too, but make sure it’s related to the quote. If it’s a meaningful quote about the mother and her child, the heart symbol should fit well.
The second one is text with an image design.
I have some products that contain the text and image in the design.
If you notice many of the examples I showed you previously, the coffee mugs with the Trump cartoon are very famous. There are so many products with the Trump cartoon on Amazon and Etsy.
Many sellers create the quotes based off of Trump's quotes.
For example, there is a product that contains the quote, “You are a Great, Great Mom. The Greatest! So Beautiful, So Smart. Really Amazing. Other Moms? Total Disasters! Believe me. Everyone Agrees!”
This is the modified quote from Trump that’s fit for the Mother’s Day niche. There are so many other funny quotes from Trump that you can use to create new products.
I have tons products with the Trump cartoon as well. I use a few quotes and combine them with the family and profession niches, and those have sold really well. You should add some Trump mugs to your collection too!
Apart from the Trump design, there are some other images that have sold well too, such as flower, unicorn, or the latest one is Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the physician and top medical expert on the COVID-19 pandemic.
You just have to make the quote related to the mother or father if you want to sell it during these two holidays.
To create the image for the design, you can find some images in the stock photo websites, such as ShutterStock or AdobeStock. I usually buy some flower images in the stock photo websites and send them to my graphic designer to create a new design.

You don’t have to hire anyone to do it, because you can buy them at a very cheap price in the stock photo website.
But for the cartoon image of a person like Trump, I recommend that you hire a graphic designer to draw the new cartoon for you.
There are some Trump cartoons in the stock photo websites, but many people have used them already. So it’s better to create the new one and make it unique.
Just search “caricature” in Fiverr and you’ll find several artists who can make this for you.
I hired someone on Fiverr to draw one cartoon for me for just $30-40 and I use it to create over thousands of products. It’s really cheap if we can see the number of products we can create from one cartoon.
Okay, these are the two styles I use for all of my products. But if I compare these two styles, 80% of my products are just a text-based design without an image.
Anyway, there are many winning products that contain text with images too, so you should do both.
Now you understand what kind of designs you need to create.
Next, I’ll show you how to create the designs fast.
Well, if you have a limited budget, I’d suggest that you create the designs yourself.
But don’t spend too much time on one design.
You can prepare one design template with one quote that you will use for many niches and create one template.
For example, if you’re creating designs for the quote “Keep Calm, I’m an [PROFESSION NICHE]”, then you may create the design template like this:
Then, replace the [PROFESSION NICHE] with the profession such as “Engineer”, “Teacher”, “Nurse”, etc. You will be able to create designs fast.
This design method can also be used with the text with image design too. You just have to create the design with the flower or cartoon image and position it where you want to put the [NICHE] in the design.

For this coffee mug, you can insert the profession niche or dog breed niche and combine it with the word “Mom”, such as “Engineer Mom” or “Bulldog Mom”.
So this is how you can create many designs fast by creating the design template first and use it to create designs for many niches.
It’s the same way my graphic designer creates over 35,000 designs for me in the past three years.
Anyway, I don’t recommend you to do it by yourself (if possible).
You might see that the design process and the style of the design are very simple. But trust me, after you create a few designs, you will be bored and stop doing it quickly, especially if you don’t make any sales from the first 20-30 designs.
That’s not how this system works. Selling print-on-demand products require lots of products in your account.
Also, if you want to create products with the many general mother’s quotes that you don’t want to combine with another niche, you will need to hire a graphic designer.
There is one outsourcing website that I recommend you use to find a graphic designer, which is onlinejobs.ph. I got a few graphic designers and many virtual assistants here. The hiring cost is very cheap compared to people on Upwork or other freelancer websites.
I recommend you to find a graphic designer by yourself first because you will have to work with them for a long time (if you are still in the POD business).
It will be easy for you when you want some designs quick or make some modification you want.
